Why does a hybrid solar system need a battery, and how is it used?
The battery stores surplus solar energy for use at night, in cloudy weather, or during power interruptions. It reduces dependence on the EAC, optimizes consumption, and ensures autonomous power supply at any time.
How long can a home run on batteries alone?
Backup duration depends on battery capacity and your daily needs. In Cyprus, a typical hybrid system provides about 3 to 24 hours of autonomy, supporting essential appliances—lighting, refrigerator, internet, air conditioning—as well as the entire home if sized accordingly.
How much does a hybrid solar system cost, and when will it pay back?
Pricing depends on system power, battery capacity, and installation complexity. In Cyprus, the average payback period for a hybrid system is 3 to 4 years. After that, the equipment continues to operate reliably for 10–15 years without replacement, delivering net savings—up to 100% reduction in electricity bills.
